VRR Nominated for Freightweek Sustainability Awards 2023

Freightweek sustainability awards 2023

VRR has been nominated for the Freightweek Sustainability Awards 2023 in the Sustainable Logistics ULD Provider category in recognition of our efforts to reduce our environmental and social footprints.

We’re super pleased about this nomination. We took our first steps to incorporate a sustainability strategy throughout our company just a year ago. To know that our aspirations are already being noticed is incredibly motivating and humbling.

Recognising excellence in the logistics industry

The Freightweek Sustainability Awards (FSA) aims to recognise logistics industry companies for excellence in managing their financial, social and environmental risks, obligations and opportunities. The call for this year’s nominations closed two weeks ago, and voting is now underway.

In each of the 19 awards categories, the top six companies with the most nominations are listed. The selection criteria for the Sustainable Logistics ULD Provider category include the following:

  • Commitment to focus on composite materials
  • Improve thermal properties
  • Encourage the industry to reduce single-use plastics and use alternatives
  • Global market

Proud to be in such good company

One of the most pleasing aspects of this nomination is learning that we’re not alone in rolling out a sustainability programme. Many other companies in our sector are also striving to meet, as the World Council for Economic Development says, “the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs".

As we see it, there may be 19 category winners, but sustainability gets the top prize due to all the attention the FSA is generating.
